Suspect in Monaco Bombing Discovered Dead in Ukraine
A woman suspected of orchestrating a parcel bombing in Monaco, which left a Ukrainian multi-millionaire and his family injured, has been found dead in Ukraine, according to the Ukrainian security service (SBU). The woman, Anastasiia Berezovska, was at the center of an international manhunt after the incident on 29 June.
Discovery of the Body
The 39-year-old Berezovska's body was located in a forest within the Kyiv region, bearing gunshot wounds to the head, as reported by the SBU and the prosecutor general of Ukraine. The authorities have charged two individuals with her murder, one of whom is a current officer in Ukraine's military intelligence service.

Berezovska reportedly returned to Ukraine on 1 July, two days following the attack. Ukrainian law enforcement sources disclosed that she was subsequently met by two suspects in a vehicle, and after a brief journey, she was killed. The SBU mentioned that she had been in communication with her family and two men after her arrival in Ukraine. These individuals, identified as a former law enforcement officer and a current intelligence officer, were implicated based on evidence suggesting they had transferred funds to Berezovska's accounts.
Murder Confession
The intelligence officer confessed to Berezovska's murder, implicating another suspect in the act. Both men have been charged with "intentional murder committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons." During the investigation, a search of the former officer's home revealed a basement room resembling a torture chamber, although authorities clarified it was not directly linked to Berezovska's case.

Monaco's deputy prosecutor, Morgan Raymond, revealed that Berezovska had surveilled the apartment complex and disguised herself as a man during the attack. The explosion occurred as three individuals entered the building, seriously injuring two of them. Berezovska was believed to have fled through Italy to Germany, where local forces conducted a search of an apartment linked to her.
Interpol issued a red notice for Berezovska, marking her as a fugitive wanted for attempted murder and other charges. Ukrainian officials are cooperating closely with Monaco authorities to uncover additional suspects involved in the attack.
Victims and Background
While the identities of the victims have not been officially confirmed by Monaco authorities, local reports suggest they include Vadym Yermolaiev, a prominent real estate developer, his partner, and his son. Yermolaiev, previously recognised as the 39th wealthiest Ukrainian by Forbes in 2020, has faced sanctions from the Kyiv government due to business interests in Crimea.
